I’m having a lot of fun with the weekly writing prompt habit over at Rands Writing Prompts, so I will dial up this newsletter’s frequency a lot. I’ve attempted this in the past, but the bite-sized nature of the prompt updates has given me permission to try a new format. Additionally, and somewhat miraculously, I recently found a carefully curated folder in my iCloud folder that looks like a goldmine of a slush pile. Content. Ready to go. Right now. Totally forgotten.
Off we go.
On my right display, I have a digital Stickie. I wrote this in late December. I’m pretty sure the cornerstone of the next book, or it might be a set of mantras I think I need for the next few months. This is a work in progress, and I present to you without comment:
WORK FUCKING HARD
CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES
Is this worth your time?
Do I understand the return on investment?
Is this short-term gain or long-term?
Is the win obvious? Non-obvious?
How does this work support your goals?
Are you the right person to make this happen?
Who can do this better?
Who will learn more than you?
Why are you reluctant to delegate?
CHECK YOUR WORK
Are you moving deliberately?
Does the work in progress make sense?
Did you error correct?
Did you stop and read it once more?
FINISH STRONG
Did you solve the problem? Completely? Forever?
Why are you scared? More reason to move briskly.
